System Board Selection - A variety of system board options make these systems so versatile. Selections range from long product life system boards with ISA support to the latest dual processor systems for the highest performance. All our systems accommodate full length ISA or PCI expansion boards.

Reliability - This is one of the main reasons to consider an industrial computer from ICI. We select quality components with the longest design life and we provide additional cooling capabilities to the system case. Specifically, hard drives, power supplies, and cooling fans are selected that have the highest mean time between failure (MTBF) ratings.

Power Supplies - Power supplies are one of the most common components to fail in a computer.  Our units are oversized for future expansion and have one of the best MTBF ratings (100k hours, at 25 Celsius, 70% full rated load). Additionally, they feature redundant cooling fans and protection circuitry for over current and over voltage conditions.

Hard Drives - Hard drives are another common component to fail as they contain moving parts and generate heat. For the IDE type hard drives, we have selected Seagate high speed drives that offer the longest MTBF ratings in the industry. They are rated at 60% greater MTBF than most standard speed IDE type hard drives. SCSI type hard drives would be the next step up in terms of reliability. SCSI type hard drives offer the longest MTBF ratings as well as the highest data transfer rates. Finally, a RAID solution, which offers drive redundancies, is the ultimate in reliability.

Cooling - The ever increasing demand for faster, more advanced technology has resulted in electronic components that consume more power and generate more heat. Excessive heat is the main cause of early electrical component failure. Supplemental case fans provide added cooling capabilities to extend the life of all electrical components. Only high grade ball bearing fans are selected which can endure extreme temperature conditions and have a life expectancy 100% greater than less expensive sleeve bearing fans or even the lower quality ball bearing fans.

Open Architecture/Standardization - The major components of our systems conform to industry standard form factors (e.g., system board, power supply, etc.). This means that you can expand the system with most national brand components or replace defective components with items available from a variety of suppliers. Repairs will be less costly and replacement parts more available than systems with proprietary components. This flexibility will protect your computer investment from obsolescence and allow for hardware changes that support your future computing needs.
